Leeds sensation Sam Byram is being monitored by Everton coaching staff, with a view to a possible bid. The 19 year-old right back has proved one of the few high-points in Leeds season and has attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs. However, rumours that Manchester City are putting together a £10 million bid appear wide of the mark. In fact, it is Everton scouts who have been most obvious around Elland Road. The Toffees are looking to strengthen defensively and feel the youngster would fall within their price range. Only uncertainty about the future of David Moyes at the club appears to have scuppered an approach. As Cheshire Today reported earlier this year, Moyes made a personal check on Byram in the last transfer window. A deal would not be popular with the long-suffering Leeds fans, a fact that boss Brian McDermott acknowledges. He recently told BBC Sport: “Sam leaving the club is not something that has crossed my agenda.”
