Why do people slag their own players when they are sat with the enemy? I don't mean these, but people in general do it. Tell the ***** that they're getting done and then do it. Then have a beer after the game but not before.

Local Derby Time! The Liverpool derby games are always something of a treat for us neutrals...though I do have a bias towards Everton-or is it against Liverpool?- but that is true about quite a few other derby games too. I love the North Eastern versions and a couple of the London ones too. They're usually close and even if not, are still fascinating to watch, especially the emotions on the faces of fans, players and managers alike. Which derby games though are historically the closest? Have a guess before checking out the following from The Holmesdale.net www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=148355 Click on the [Link] and you'll be connected to The Guardian's "The Knowledge" page. No malice meant 3in11 but is Brighton even in the same country as Crystal Palace? It must be nearly 50 miles away so how is that a derby game? Also Liverpool and Man u a derby? Whoever wrote that article needs to learn a bit about what derby games mean and not just post statistics. Liverpool and Everton have a century of history living side by side which is slightly different. Sadly Jeffers, Brighton IS in the same country.....it always seems strange having to explain that the obssessive hate which Palace and 'The Weed' (Seaweed/Brighton) have for each other outweighs the more parochial rivalries we have with Millwall and Charlton. It's a long story...... If you have any constructive ideas on how to remove Brighton from the rest of England, please let us know. >>>>>I should add that there has been a very positive(not to say moving)response from their fans to a charity fund raising drive which some Palace supporters got going last season to send a young lass to the USA for an operation not performed in the UK. <<<<<<<<<< They ain't all bad.

Ha ha, probably best not to go down the 'we hate Brighton' too much or juddablue will get his naughty stick out. Everybody lives somewhere as they say. I have to agree that it isn't really a Derby in the sense of the word we know up here. To me, a Derby game is against your close neighbours. Everton Liverpool City v United etc etc

I never understood the Palace V Brighton thing, even though Brighton is 40 mins by train away from Brighton. I just see Palace v Millwall more of a rivalry. I think the Brighton thing goes back to some incident that happened during the 70s with some fans but that's only what I've read. Even a London derby like QPR v Arsenal for instance seems weird as I just don't see it being as intense as say Arsenal v Spurs. Anyway, what do I know...
