Everton 2 Norwich 4: Murphy and Morris shine as Canaries soar into FA Youth Cup semis
The craft of Joshua Murphy and the clinical finishing of Carlton Morris combined to move Norwich City into the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup at the expense of Everton.
Morris scored three times for the Canaries as they proved too lively their hosts at Goodison Park, setting up a last four trip to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
If Murphy, ever-elusive as he attacked Everton ceaselessly down the left, showed an instinctive understanding with his twin brother Jacob, then his communication with Morris was almost telepathic as he played a hand in all three of his goals.
Yellow peril: Carlton Morris (centre), who hit a hat-trick for Norwich, wheels away after firing his second

Referee: S Rushton.
Attendance: 1,093. The first, on 13 minutes, was created not only within the same club, but under the same roof. The Murphys, who both signed professional contracts back in January, combined on the left as Jacob slipped a through pass to Joshua, who had raced beyond Everton right-back Matthew Pennington.
A low ball was delivered to the near post and Morris escaped defensive attentions to tap in and bring to life a hitherto slow game.
Ten minutes before half-time and the duo showed that instinctive understanding again. Joshua Murphy spotted Morris’ run and lofted the ball over the defenders into his path. The striker showed impeccable poise to chip the ball over Mason Springthorpe in goal.
Norwich were running riot, but as so often happens, the two-goal buffer led to heads switching off at the back. A minute later, a searching ball found Chris Long bursting down the right channel.
Unnerved by shrieks of offside, Long lashed the ball between the legs of keeper William Britt to halve the deficit.
Off the mark: Morris fires Norwich's opener from close range
It was obvious, however, the Norwich possessed that little bit extra and the two-goal cushion was restored 90 seconds after the interval. You already know who was involved - Murphy’s strike proved too hot for Springthorpe to handle and Morris had enough time to take a touch before tapping into an unguarded net.
But Everton, who saw off Arsenal with an eye-catching 4-2 away win in the last round, kept going despite the dismissal of Ibou Touray for a rash, studs-up challenge on Cameron Norman.
The 10-men reduced the arrears to just one on 66 minutes, awakening the 1,000-strong crowd, as Long bundled the ball in following a goalmouth scramble.
Sealing the deal: Jacob Murphy coolly converts to see off Everton's challenge
However, Norwich saw spaces to exploit with their numerical advantage and settled the tie when Jacob Murphy, not wanting to be entirely overshadowed by his brother, finished with composure to make it 4-2.
Everton did create plenty of chances, with Pennington not afraid to push forward and Kennedy willing to cut inside and have a go. One such effort early on was inches wide.
Jonjoe Kenny, not tall for a centre-half but strong in the air, headed just over the crossbar late in the first half from Long’s cross, while George Waring, a scorer in the third and fourth rounds of the competition, wasted a similar opportunity after the break.
And late on, with the forward-rushing keeper Springthorpe diverting attention, Kenny forced a save from Britt from a corner.
Norwich go through to join Forest, whom they will meet in the first of two legs at the City Ground next week, Chelsea and Liverpool in the last four.
