Sean Dyche is hoping to have Vitalii Mykolenko available for Everton's clash at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday (3pm GMT kick-off), while captain Seamus Coleman is "touch and go" over a return.
But the Blues boss is likely to continue to be without Ashley Young and Abdoulaye Doucoure as the duo work their way back to fitness.
Full-back Mykolenko - who has been in fine form this season - missed the victory at Burnley and the midweek Carabao Cup clash against Fulham with a groin injury.
Speaking in Thursday's press conference previewing Saturday's contest, Dyche explained the defender could return for the game in north London.
"Mykolenko is back in the thinking," revealed Dyche. "The other three, it's touch and go with Seamus - he needs a few more days of training. Youngy is making process but I don't think he will make this one, and Doucs not for this one."
Doucoure has been a key performer under Dyche, with no player having scored more than his 11 goals since the manager arrived at the Club in January.
On his potential return date, Dyche added: "We will see, he is making good progress. He is a good healer from what I gather from his past so we are hoping it will settle quickly as it is doing."

Sean Dyche says his side will maintain the “right attitude to take the game on” going into this weekend’s return to Premier League action at Tottenham Hotspur.
In the Blues’ final fixture before Christmas, the Toffees travel to north London on Saturday afternoon (3pm GMT). Hoping to bounce back from a penalty shootout loss to Fulham in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Tuesday evening, Dyche’s side will be aiming to extend an impressive run of four back-to-back Premier League victories without conceding a goal.
The weekend will see Everton head to the capital for the last time in 2023, having won all three trips to London so far this season - a record not bettered by the Club since a string of four consecutive London-based league victories between April 1911 and September 1912.
Reflecting on the positives from the Toffees' display on Tuesday, Dyche insists his players will remain confident going into the contest with Ange Postecoglou's side.
“A lot of the details, in general, were very good - apart from the moments of truth where we needed to score a goal," said the Everton manager, speaking in Thursday’s pre-match press conference. "There were a lot of good signs from our performance. So, no, there shouldn’t be any hangover at all.
“Of course, there are some very good football teams in the Premier League. Stats and facts often suggest that some games are harder. I think Tottenham is one and I think they’re a very good outfit. On the other hand, we’re going very well. We’re certainly going down there with the right attitude to take the game on.”
Ahead of Saturday's encounter, only Tottenham themselves (18) have earned more away points than Everton (16) in the Premier League this season. The Toffees are targeting a fifth consecutive top-flight away win for the first time since April 1970 - a season when they won the league title.
Dyche discussed the work done behind the scenes to improve his side’s successes on the road, as he explained: “There was a lot of noise about the away form when I got here. We, collectively, [have changed that]. I think the mentality of it has improved significantly. I know I use that word a lot, but it has at all levels of the Club.
“If you’re playing well and getting results, of course, there comes that little bit of freedom. That shoulders-back attitude to go to take games on. We’ve done a lot of collective work on that mentality. That home and away mentality and trying to find different ways of operating away from home.
“As a group, we decided we need to do better. We worked very hard during pre-season and early season. I thought we were playing well - really well - we just couldn’t score goals.
“We’ve changed that around and we are keeping clean sheets. We look stronger on the defensive side, although I thought we were pretty decent, anyway. But results change the perception. That’s the difference and it also adds to the belief of the group, but there has been so much work that has been done, and there is still more work to do.
“I can speak about building a mentality but when we are 10 points down and the players park it quickly and move on, that’s a sign they are actually taking it on and that’s very pleasing for me as a manager.”
At the beginning of his press conference, Dyche was asked to give his view after reports, which emerged on Thursday, outlined the possibility of reviving plans for the European Super League.
In response, Dyche said: “I think the bigger picture - the last time this came around - was made clear by the fans. I think fans, certainly the fan groups of the clubs that were mentioned, were quite clear in their thoughts that it was something they didn’t like. With the change in laws, maybe that opens up something for the future. I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see.
“The way that the fans openly spoke about it last time, then that’s something that would have to be considered by clubs if they wanted to go down that route.”
