Ross Barkley: Everton midfielder faces scan after training injury
Ross Barkley is out of Everton's opening Premier League game at Leicester City on Saturday after injuring his leg in training.
The England midfielder, 20, left the club's training ground in a brace and will undergo a scan this weekend.
Initial reports suggest he could be out for six to eight weeks.
Barkley has played in three pre-season games after returning from World Cup duty and his absence is a major blow for Everton manager Roberto Martinez.
Barkley played 34 games for Everton last season, scoring six goals, and signed a new four-year contract at Goodison Park last month.
A long-term injury could rule him out of England's Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia.
Barkley was hoping to establish himself as one of manager Roy Hodgson's first choice players after making two substitute appearances and one start in Brazil during the summer.

Every time we look to move forward something happens. It's supposed to be a knee injury so wouldn't hold our breath about an early return.

Better it happen now than when the window has shut. At least we have time to sort something else out if we need to.

Better it happen now than when the window has shut. At least we have time to sort something else out if we need to. If we have any money left. It's a huge blow for us as we are already short of creativity. Let's hope Bobby has a plan B.
