Glenn Hoddle was in Brazil as a World Cup pundit for ITV, and has also recently worked for Sky Sports. Photograph: Mike Egerton/PA Archive/Press Association Glenn Hoddle has joined QPR as first-team coach. The 56-year-old will work alongside Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan as part of Harry Redknapp’s backroom staff as the club adapt to life back in the Premier League. “I am really pleased to bring Glenn in,” Redknapp told the QPR website. “I have been really lucky in the last couple of years to have had Steve Cotterill, Steve McClaren and Wally Downes work with us. They all did a fantastic job. “I spoke with the chairman about the possibility of bringing Glenn in, and he thought it was a great idea. Glenn will be great. He has a brilliant knowledge of the game and will be fantastic out on the training ground with the players. He is a hugely-respected coach and, like Steve, has managed his country. I decided if I was going to bring somebody in, I was going to go for somebody who was top class, and that’s what Glenn is.” The appointment is Hoddle’s first touchline role since his departure as the Wolves manager in 2006, and despite carving out a successful media career as a pundit, the 56-year-old appears delighted to be back in club football. “I am really pleased to take up Harry’s offer to come in and work with him, Kevin and Joe,” Hoddle said. “After winning promotion last season, the first aim at QPR is to stay in the Premier League and I am looking forward to helping play my part as we try to achieve that. “I have always loved coaching and I can’t wait to meet the players, get on the training pitch and get to work.” After promotion from the Championship via the play-offs last season, QPR are expected to fight against the drop this campaign. Their last season in the Premier League in 2012-13 ended with relegation.

What a player he was. It will be interesting to see how he does working with Redknapp.
