Porto have kept the ball for most of the game and won it back far too easily. We appear to be in too much of a rush to try and score every time we have the ball instead of concentrating on keeping possession and settling. Naismith looks full of beans as usual. Some moments with Baines and Pienaar but overall Porto looking much more comfortable on the ball. Robles is just a hoofer and needs to learn how to relax and play football.

Good goal from Porto as our defence changed Baines and Jagielka for Stones and Browning. Deserved I suppose.

Considering we had a strong team out for a large percentage of the match, I didn't see 'any' of the football policy we strived to achieve for the majority of last season.
Possession - we were sloppy, uncomfortable, and rushed, and gave the ball away far too often in the first half in particular, and though we passed it ok in patches, it seems we are still miles behind the European teams in terms of patience and composure.
Yes, it is a pre-season match, and we can expect to be playing at a lesser percentage level, but the players won't have been on the pitch thinking that. They will have been 'in the moment' regardless, and it was exactly the same for Porto.
I thought Jagielka looked in good form, and Naismith had a good game, once again running his ass off all over the pitch.
Muhamed Besic looked a steady player too, and I'm optimistic about his season. As Jimmy said, Bainesy and Pienaar worked well together again, but overall it looked lacking in composure from too may.
As for Robles, I don't see it at all. He might be a keeper that was ok for Wigan, but never in a month of Sundays is he going to push Howard for a starting position, and if he is our Europa keeper then I think we have a problem. He looks like he is in a panic throughout the match. Whether it's because he isn't getting time on the pitch for us I don't know, but for a team that has based it's whole season on playing from the back, why on earth is he launching it forward like that?
A lot of work needed to prepare for the new season.
The match is in the Match Room.
