I still pinch myself most days when I realise that Carlo Ancelotti is the Everton manager! One of the most successful managers around is the man tasked with getting us back to the top of English football. I read an interview posted today where he stated his goal is to have us fighting for domestic titles and on the European front. How refreshing it is to hear an Everton manager show some ambition. It may be wishful thinking but to me it feels like this could be the start of something special. It reminds me of when Roberto Mancini took over as Man City manager. He also took over in December and narrowly missed out on 4th place. Let’s hope Carlo is more successful come May! In Mancini’s next season he guided City to 4th place and brought them the first trophy in 35 years winning the Fa Cup. The next season he won the league. Now to say this is what will happen with Everton is not guaranteed but who knows! We have waited far too long for silverware so let’s hope it is next season! Mancini was the catalyst to take City to the next level. He was a massive upgrade on Mark Hughes. We also have made a massive upgrade going from Silva to Don Carlo. Sometimes you need a high profile manager who gets respect from everyone in and outside the club. He then breeds a winning culture and positive mentality right across the Club. The Italians CV will also ensure he is given time at the club to build what he intends to build. As much as I hate to say it look at the team across the park. Klopp said give me 4 years and I will bring you a trophy and won the Champions League in his 4th season and is about to win the premier league. Klopp was given time. What our manager has achieved already is impressive. He has completely turned the mentality around and we have gone from 18th to 5 points off a Champions League place in 2 months. The players look like a different bunch of players. They dig in and now know how to win ugly and don’t fold like they used to when up against it. The football at times isn’t great but it’s a results game and that’s what counts at the end of the season. DCL is absolutely thriving under Ancelotti and massively improved under Big Dunc’s temporary reign. I slaughtered the kid earlier in the season thinking he was not good enough. That’s why I am only a supporter and not a manager! He deserves all the praise he is getting and now knows where the net is. Richarlison is now consistently performing and looks world class at present. The problem is keeping clubs away from him in the summer will be difficult. Hopefully the players we will attract will ensure he stays and wants to be part of the Everton project. I think we will see a few ins and outs in the summer as the manager brings his own players in and ships out players who are not good enough. He will not get rid of all the deadwood in one window and this is why he needs time and patience. This is an exciting time to be an Everton fan and I genuinely believe Carlo Ancelotti will bring the good times back to the Blues. Onwards and Upwards Blues! Carlo Fantastico Carlo Magnifico ole ole

We have to sign the right players. Maybe with Ancelotti they'll want to come as the last few managers had no pulling power.

The announcement of his arrival alone may have brought more from the squad.
The [no-words] Anfield defeat meant our season was written off in January, meaning players were already playing for their careers, if not the club, before the worrying times we're all now in took hold.
The interesting part of this though is how one of Europe's most respected personnel in Brands can work not only with money, but a big name coach (plus the licence to bring in his own fitness and behind-the-scenes team).
Yes, there's only so much we can spend in one window, but this time I can look with more than just hope - with expectation - that IF Brands and Ancelotti will be successful from where we stand right now, a transfer window that, say 20-30 years down the line was a big step in the right direction.
I'm not suggesting trophies or a Champions' League quarter-final, but what I've seen so far: the addressing of our players' fitness inferiorities (vs the other six in the Premier League and overseas), lack of European experience in our squad, the willingness to change formations, and... that new stadium, painfully slow but steady progress is being made.

I think us fans need to rein back our expectations , yes we all crave for the return of the 80's glory , but football has changed and in the main money buys success.
I am of a certain age and remember pre Premiership fondly, and have over recent seasons been increasingly disgruntled with this modern football model.
We have had many a false dawn and I can't help feeling Ancelotti could be another one. Hopefully I am proved wrong.
