Duncan Ferguson is hoping to have Seamus Coleman available for Everton’s visit to Manchester United on Sunday – but the Blues’ caretaker manager is waiting on the fitness of a handful of players.
Right-back Coleman has been sidelined with a rib injury and last featured in Everton’s meeting with Norwich City in November.
Fellow full-back Lucas Digne hurt his groin against Chelsea on Saturday and was replaced late in the match by Leighton Baines.
Ferguson admits Frenchman Digne is a “concern” ahead of this weekend’s game at Old Trafford.
The Scot, who oversaw Everton’s stirring Goodison Park victory over Chelsea five days ago, also provided fitness updates on defender Yerry Mina, forward Theo Walcott and midfielder Fabian Delph.
Mina missed the Chelsea match with a hamstring issue, while a calf problem forced Walcott off towards the end of that game.
England international Delph, who has started six times in the Premier League following his summer move from Manchester City, is nursing a muscle problem which has kept him out of action for six weeks.
“Seamus has done a little bit of training and is gradually picking up, so he could come into consideration for the weekend,” Ferguson told evertonfc.com.
“Fabian Delph is similar, he’s joined in some training but is a doubt. And Yerry Mina has done a bit of training with us, we will see how he is in the next couple of days.”
On Digne and Walcott, Ferguson added: “Lucas is a concern but we are hoping he could be okay for Sunday.
“Theo may not be ready because of the problem he sustained against Chelsea.”

Everton caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson has revealed Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin will miss Sunday's match at Manchester United (2pm).
Both players have suffered calf injuries, with Walcott expected to be out for three weeks and Schneiderlin for a fortnight.
Ferguson added Seamus Coleman, Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph have resumed light training over the past three days. Their fitness will be assessed ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.
The caretaker boss added he is "hopeful" Lucas Digne will be fit after the Frenchman took part in training on Friday.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin (quadriceps) and Andre Gomes (ankle) continue to be long-term absentees.
Asked about missing Schneiderlin and Walcott for Sunday's contest, Ferguson said: "It’s very disappointing, considering how well they played [against Chelsea] – Theo on the counter-attack and Morgan covering the space in front of the back four.
"It’s a blow but we move on."
Club captain Coleman has been sidelined with a rib injury in recent weeks, having last featured in Everton’s clash with Norwich City on 23 November.
Mina missed last weekend’s 3-1 win over Chelsea with a hamstring injury, while Digne picked up a groin injury in that game.
Delph has been out of action for a number of weeks with a muscle problem.

Duncan Ferguson says Everton will go to Manchester United believing they can secure a first Old Trafford victory in six years.
Caretaker manager Ferguson masterminded a stirring 3-1 victory over Chelsea last week and insists the confidence gained from that match will spill over into Sunday's encounter.
The 47-year-old, who promised not to soften his impassioned touchline demeanour in Manchester, is without a clutch of senior players this weekend .
Equally, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are rolling into form and host Everton following successive Premier League wins over Tottenham Hotspur and champions Manchester City.
Ferguson, though, insists Everton are driven to maintain their own upturn following the three points claimed against Chelsea.
“It has been great [this week], those points were so important for us,” said Ferguson.
“Everyone is happier when you get wins, the boys seem good, they have trained well and are motivated to go again.
“We are confident because we are off the back of beating Chelsea.
“But Manchester United are on a great run, they’ve lost only one home game all season, and we’ve won once in the past 27 years there.
“It is going to be difficult for us but it’s one we will be up for.
“United are on the up at the moment and they are a very good team. It will be a big ask but I am sure we can give a good account of ourselves.
"I’d be on the roof if we get a win there. But we can do it and that’s what we’ll try to do."
Ferguson urged and cajoled his players throughout his first Premier League match as a boss, the Scot prowling his technical area and exploding with joy following each of Everton’s three goals.
He is vowing to remain true to his demonstrative character while in charge.
And Ferguson wants his players to stick to what they did against Chelsea, too.
Everton made more tackles [37] than any other top-flight team this season and suffocated Frank Lampard’s side with their relentless harrying and closing.
Equally, Everton were purposeful and clinical in possession to earn the win which lifted them four positions in the table. To climb further this week, the Blues will likely need a first Old Trafford success since Bryan Oviedo's strike decided a game between the sides in December 2013.
“I think [the result and performance against Chelsea] made the players realise they are a good team and that we have a lot of good players in the squad,” added Ferguson, who ruled out Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin two days before the match.
“As long as they keep covering the grass and running and tackling and fighting for the shirt that will take us a long way.
“I felt how I looked [during the Chelsea game].
“It was exciting and emotional.
“It was my first time on the touchline in the Premier League, a fantastic day and I got caught up in it.
“I think the players needed that encouragement.
“I am not going to change, I am going to be myself.”
