Marcel Brands says everybody at Everton is united and working together to turn the Club's results around. The Blues' Director of Football also stressed the Club's commitment to its long-term plan for the future, revealing a new deal has been agreed to extend the contract of Brazil international Richarlison until 2024. Everton's 2-0 defeat to Norwich City last weekend has left the side 16th in the Premier League table ahead of three games in seven days, starting with Sunday's trip to Leicester City. Brands acknowledged the need for improvement but says the staff and players have both the determination and backing to right their current situation. "As a Board, we have got to support that. Of course, we know in sport, as always, you have to perform - that’s me, the manager, the players, for everyone. "It’s also important, especially in this Club, after a couple of years of instability, to stick together in this situation. "I think it is important that everyone has the feeling that we can turn this around to better results. "Most people know that I always go to the dressing room after the game, to see how the atmosphere is. "Of course, everyone was disappointed last Saturday but you saw also really in the eyes of the players the fire that they want to resolve this, to turn this around – together with the whole staff. "That's important coming up towards the next couple of games. They will be tough games but games where we can improve." Richarlison scored for the fifth time this season in a 2-1 victory at Southampton in early November to add to the 14 goals he netted last season following a July 2018 move from Watford. The forward has also broken into the Brazil squad during his time on Merseyside and earned his 19th cap against South Korea following that victory at St Mary's. Everton FC

Marco Silva says the fact Richarlison is close to signing a new deal with Everton reflects the Brazilian’s “happiness” at the Club.
Director of Football Marcel Brands revealed on Friday an extended contract had been agreed with the 22-year-old.
Richarlison joined Everton in summer 2018, reuniting with manager Silva, who brought the explosive forward to the Premier League when in charge at Watford.
He has since scored 19 goals for the Blues and won’s the Club’s Young Player of the Year award for 2018/19.
Richarlison has also become a full Brazil international during his time on Merseyside and helped his country to a home Copa America triumph earlier this year, scoring in the five-time world champions’ final victory over Peru.
Asked what Richarlison’s decision to commit his future to the Club said about the attacker’s mindset, Silva replied: “It shows his happiness [at Everton].
“It [agreeing a new contract for Richarlison] was key for me. It was something we have been working on for some weeks.
“From the conversations I have had with Richarlison, I was clear how he is an important player for us.
“Our Board said the same thing to him.
“We are doing this because we believe he can keep improving as a player and he can keep helping our team to win matches.”

Richarlison has put pen to paper on a new long-term Goodison Park deal. The Brazilian’s contract extension ties him to Everton until at least summer 2024 – 16 months after he arrived in a high-profile transfer from Watford. Richarlison scored his 20th Everton goal in 50 starts against Leicester City on Sunday and has amassed 19 Brazil caps since making his national team debut two months after joining the Club. The 22-year-old pointed to the faith invested in him by Everton - and the overwhelming support from fans - as key factors in his decision to commit to the Blues long-term. “I intend to be here a long time," Richarlison told evertontv. “This was the club which gave me the opportunity to show my football. “It was here I managed to get a place in the Brazil national team and it was here I have scored lots of goals in the Premier League. “The Club trusts me and I trust them. The supporters have a lot of affection for me and I try to give back all this affection as much as possible on the pitch. “I go out and put my life on the line for them. I try to sweat blood and tears for this club. I intend to continue honouring the shirt and making the fans happy. “And I hope they continue singing my name.” Richarlison was initially brought to England by Marco Silva, who signed him for Watford before swooping to make the South American his first Everton recruit after being appointed manager in summer 2018. The player acknowledged the enormous progress he’s made under Silva – but was keen to stress there remains significant scope for improvement. “I just look to work really hard on a daily basis… I want to score goals but my first objective is always to help the team - then you think about your own scoring record and creating assists,” said Richarlison. “Everybody at Everton needs to have it in their minds that we need to aim high and win trophies and we all think as players we can develop further and lift a cup, maybe even this season. We want to make the fans happy by winning trophies." Richarlison added: “My development and progress is clear for everyone to see and Marco Silva has been part of that. “He has my trust and the trust of the whole group. It's us on the pitch and we are looking to help him as much as possible because Marco Silva is an excellent person. “I need to continue focussing and being happy here and I think I have made the right decision in extending my contract. “Now it is time to continue the focus and to make the fans happy.” Everton FC
