Fresh from their historic Merseyside derby win at Anfield on Sunday, Everton Women are back in action on Thursday night when they take on Manchester City in the Continental Cup at Marine FC in Crosby, 7pm.
Tickets are on sale to watch the Blues in action priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for Under-16s. Season Ticket, Lounge and Official Members gain free entry.
Ahead of the match, Club captain Dan Turner reflected on the win against Liverpool, and outlined what is next for Willie Kirk's side.
We are going into this match against Manchester City still on a high after Sunday’s win at Anfield.
It was an incredible experience. To beat Liverpool there as an Everton player, it doesn’t get much better.
It was a special day and one I think we will all remember.
It is definitely up there as one of the best days in my football career.
There were more than 23,500 fans there and that’s the biggest crowd I’ve ever played in front of.
The Everton fans who came to support us were amazing. They backed us all game and it felt great to celebrate with them at the end.
Hearing the fans singing like they were, it gives you goosebumps.
I’d like to thank all of the Evertonians who came. You really spurred us on and I know all the girls appreciated your support.
Hopefully, for those who came, it can inspire them to come and watch us regularly.
We know we can play a lot better than we did, though. It wasn’t our best performance, but we got the three points, which is the most important thing – especially in a derby match.
One big positive from the game was our defensive performance. We knew the first half wasn’t good enough, but we got the goal on the stroke of half-time, and that helped us a lot.
In the second half, we defended our penalty area very well. We threw bodies on the line and kept another clean sheet.
Tinja-Riikka Korpela made one unbelievable save in the first half but, apart from that, I think we limited their chances.
We turn our attention to the Continental Cup on Thursday night, and we know we’ve given ourselves a tough task to qualify from the group stage.
It’s still mathematically possible, though, and there is no question of us throwing the towel in.
We’ll be going out there tonight pushing to win and hoping we can keep our qualification hopes alive until the final game in the group, when we play Leicester City.
We were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Manchester City in the WSL. We played well on the day and were unlucky not to get at least a point.
We know they are a good team and they have a lot of excellent players - but we also know we can compete against them.
We’re eager to put in another strong performance tonight and get the victory we need.
