Substitute Ellis Simms hit the winner as Everton Under-23s beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 in a frenetic clash at Goodison Park to move up to third in the Premier League 2 table.
Lewis Gibson had put the Toffees in front before Joseph Rankin-Costello levelled for the away side.
In an end-to-end contest, it was Everton who were to emerge victorious – Simms racing onto Anthony Gordon’s pinpoint through pass to slot past Rovers stopper Joe Hilton.
