Andre Gomes makes his first Everton start after completing a permanent summer switch to Goodison Park, as Marco Silva's side kick-off their Premier League campaign at Crystal Palace on Saturday. New boys Moise Kean and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are both included among the Blues' substitutes. Dominic Calvert-Lewin plays up front, the 22-year-old operating in advance of Gylfi Sigurdsson - with Brazilian duo Richarlison and Bernard occupying the wide positions. Jordan Pickford makes his 77th Everton Premier League appearance on the spin, the goalkeeper a top-flight every present since his summer 2017 transfer from Sunderland. Captain Seamus Coleman is deployed in his usual right-back berth. Lucas Digne, last term's player of the season, starts at left-back. Yerry Mina and Michael Keane are paired in the middle of defence, while Gomes, who played 27 league matches on loan from Barcelona last season, is partnered in Everton's midfield by Morgan Schneiderlin. Former Juventus striker Kean and Gbamin, the midfielder signed from Mainz, are joined on the bench by attackers Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun. Midfielder Tom Davies, Mason Holgate and goalkeeper Jonas Lossl complete manager Silva's substitute options. Everton FC

Seamus Coleman will captain Everton in the forthcoming Premier League campaign, with Marco Silva identifying the Irishman as his pick to replace former skipper Phil Jagielka. Right-back Coleman joined Everton in January 2009 and regularly stepped into the captaincy role as Jagielka's deputy last season. The 30-year-old, who led his side in 22 Premier League matches in 2018/19, is set for his 11th full campaign at Goodison Park and will make his 290th appearance for the Club when he wears the armband at Crystal Palace on Saturday. Manager Silva has chosen Leighton Baines as vice-captain, with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Lucas Digne the two candidates to skipper Everton should Coleman and Baines both be absent. Centre-back Jagielka was captain for the second half of his 12 years with Everton before leaving for Sheffield United in the summer.

And here's what the skipper had to say about today's game...
"We always know that coming to Crystal Palace, whether it be in the season or the start of the season, that it's going to be a tough game. With it being the first game of the season, they are going to be up for it, the fans are going to be up for it, but for us it's about starting like we finished last season and bringing that confidence into today.
"Every team starting out this weekend will want to win the first game and finish as high as they can. Everyone will want that same thing but we are confident with how we've prepared in pre-season and we are looking forward to this first game.
"To be a good team, you need competition all over the pitch. We got that with some very good players. Training standards improve and that's only beneficial for the team."

Sig not doing anywhere near enough for me.
An ok first half but we look an 'ok' team, and need to be more composed and dominate the middle of the pitch more.
