The Brazilian media continues to name Everton as one of the strongest competitors for the signing of David Neres from Ajax. This weekend, it was journalist Jorge Nicola, from Yahoo, who claimed the Toffees are one of the clubs who have opened talks to sign the 22-year-old. It’s said that along with Roma and Borussia Dortmund, Everton have contacted Ajax to start the negotiations for the player. Nicola claims that Neres is not leaving the Dutch side for less than €50m, and with the club having a great campaign in the Champions League, his price is only expected to go up. Neres has 12 goals and 15 assists to his name this term so far, with 8 goals and 11 assists coming off in the Eredivisie alone as Ajax sit at its summit with 74 points and 4 games left to play.

I think we have to be careful about signing players off the back of one season in weak leagues.
He plays for the top team in that weak league too and the Prem is a very different proposition.
