Everton Under-23s have been handed a home tie with Sunderland in the last 16 of the Premier League Cup. The young Blues progressed in the knockout stages of the competition in some style – topping a group which contained Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield United and Doncaster Rovers, and going unbeaten throughout their six matches. The Premier League 2 leaders will face a Sunderland outfit who were runners-up behind Stoke City in their group. The Black Cats comfortably finished ahead of third-placed Peterborough and Charlton Athletic, who propped up the table. The last 16 clash is scheduled to be played between 14-17 March. Further fixture details will be announced in due course. Everton FC
