Everton will face Kariobangi Sharks this summer after the Kenyan side beat compatriots Bandari 1-0 on Sunday to lift the SportPesa Cup for first time. Kariobangi triumphed in the eight-team tournament, which featured clubs from Kenya and Tanzania, to earn the right to face the Toffees. Harrison Mwendwa’s 60th-minute strike proved decisive in the final at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Everton have faced fellow Kenyan Premier League team Gor Mahia for the past two years after they secured successive SportPesa Cup victories. Goals from Wayne Rooney and Kieran Dowell earned a 2-1 win for Everton in Tanzania in July 2017, before the Blues wrapped up a 4-0 success at Goodison Park in November 2018. But there would be no third instalment with Gor Mahia after they were knocked out on penalties by Mbao FC in the quarter-finals. The Sharks will now battle it out Everton for the SportPesa Trophy this summer. The date and location for the friendly fixture will be announced in due course. Everton FC
