Everton boss Marco Silva has suggested that he will have no money to sign any new players in the January transfer window.
Everton spent an awful lot of money in the summer attempting to rebuild a squad that had stagnated.
Spells under Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce saw the club lose its reputation as the ‘best of the rest’ club, despite wanting to push for more than that.
Though, Farhad Moshiri, Marcel Brands and Marco Silva looked to put that right in the summer when they splashed the cash on several big signings.
Richarlison, Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Bernard all came in on permanent transfers as Kurt Zouma and Andre Gomes joined on loan.
All signings have impressed to an extent but Everton are still struggling this season.
They are currently sat 1oth in the table and have only won two games in nine.
Especially with a lack of quality up front, you would have thought Everton would dive into the market to add some extra firepower.
Now, that looks to be in doubt after Marco Silva’s comments today.
“We don’t have the financial conditions to go in the market”
According to the Everton boss, he and Marcel Brands ‘don’t have the financial conditions’ to sign this month.
This is supposedly the information that is being relayed to him, which you would assume is from majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri who has pumped obscene amounts of money into the playing staff recently.
“We don’t have the financial conditions to go in the market, is the feedback I have at the moment,” he explained, as quoted by Paul Joyce of the Times.
When asked about a move for Michy Batshuayi, the Everton boss was equally bleak.
“It is not to talk about the player A, B, C, or D,” he was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.
“We have to work with the players we have here. This is our job. Everything can happen or not in the market.”
When asked about whether Oumar Niasse’s supposed move to Cardiff could change things, Silva dismissed the idea.
“It does not matter or not to change my mind,” he continued.
“I have to find different solutions.”
