Former England manager Glenn Hoddle is "responding well" after falling "seriously ill" at the BT Sport studio, the broadcaster said on Saturday. Hoddle, who began his career with Tottenham Hotspur and also played for Chelsea and Monaco, works as a pundit for the broadcaster and was taken to hospital after receiving medical attention at the studios in east London. BT Sport subsequently cancelled their football results show, which was due to go on air on Saturday. "Our friend & colleague Glenn Hoddle was taken seriously ill at the BT Sport studio this morning. Everyone of us is right with you Glenn, sending love & strength," BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey posted on his official Twitter feed. Later in the day, Humphrey provided an update on Hoddle's condition, saying: "The condition is serious but Glenn is currently receiving specialist treatment and responding well. "Glenn's family are with him and would like to thank everyone that has sent their support. Gary Lineker, who played alongside Hoddle with England at the 1986 World Cup and is a colleague on BT Sport, wrote on Twitter: "Hugely worrying news that Glenn Hoddle collapsed at the BT studios earlier. Thoughts are with him and his family. Come on Glenn." Hoddle was due to be a pundit for West Ham's trip to Leicester's King Power Stadium on Saturday evening. "Best wishes to Glenn Hoddle, who has been taken to hospital after falling ill before his pundit appearance on BT Sport today. Our thoughts are with you," West Ham wrote on Twitter. Former midfielder Hoddle, who won 53 caps for his country before managing the team from 1996-99, including at the 1998 World Cup in France, was celebrating his 61st birthday.

The former Tottenham, Chelsea and England player is recovering in hospital after a heart attack on his 61st birthday two weeks ago. Since the operation Hoddle has been texting friends. One said: "The outlook is extremely positive but he is not out of the woods yet. "It's been a very difficult time but if everything goes to plan he will be back on his feet before long.
"He's been told if it's successful he will have no problem getting back to the pundit work his fans love him for."
The father-of-three collapsed as he was about to go on-air on Robbie Savage's live BT Sport show. He was airlifted to hospital.
A triple bypass or "coronary artery bypass graft" takes three to six hours. A blood vessel is transplanted from another part of the body (generally the arm, leg or chest) to the heart to bypass a blocked or damaged coronary artery.
His friend, football manager Harry Redknapp, said: "It was a shock but hopefully he will make a full recovery now. We need him back.
"Everybody who knows Glenn would agree, is there a nicer bloke anywhere?
"I've never heard him say a bad word about anyone, he's just a lovely guy, a great footballer and a great person."
