Wouldn't it be funny if we beat them and Cenk Tosun scored a hatrick?

Sam Allardyce held his pre-match press conference on Friday morning ahead of Everton's clash at home to Manchester City. With the Blues taking on the Premier League leaders at Goodison on Saturday, the Toffees manager discussed: - Assessing Idrissa Gana Gueye's hamstring injury and giving the midfielder "every chance" to play this weekend. - His "biggest challenge yet" as Everton boss to stop City and build on the Blues' impressive home form under his guidance. - His confidence that Jordan Pickford is ready to be England's number one for this summer's World Cup, and belief that Michael Keane still has a chance of making Gareth Southgate's squad for Russia. - Looking to extend Everton's form since he took over as manager in late November, which is the sixth best in the Premier League. Sam Allardyce says Everton are ready for their "biggest challenge" against runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City on Saturday, with Idrissa Gana Gueye to be given "every chance" of recovering from a hamstring injury to be fit for the clash. Everton go into the game after consecutive league victories and aiming to continue their commanding run of form at Goodison Park. The Blues have accumulated 20 points from a possible 27 at the Grand Old Lady since Allardyce watched from the stands as the Blues beat West Ham United 4-0 on the eve of his appointment in late November. Since the 2-0 victory at home to Huddersfield on 2 December - Allardyce's first in charge - the Toffees have collected 25 points, the sixth highest number in the Premier League, two fewer than Chelsea and five more than Arsenal. The Everton manager accepts that Saturday's match against Pep Guardiola's City will represent his players' toughest test yet but wants his squad to approach the game with a positive mindset. "We’ve got a big test in front of us,” said Allardyce. “It's the biggest challenge yet but it’s one we really look forward to on the basis that we’ve come off back-to-back wins against Brighton and Stoke. “We have to be in a positive frame of mind to get out and challenge yourself against them and say, ‘We can challenge them and, on any given day, get a result against them’. “Gana will be assessed as late as tomorrow morning given it’s a 5.30pm kick-off. We’ll give him the next 24 hours and see what the position is because our midfield area is quite light because of the injuries we’ve got.” The Blues are the only side to have taken points off City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League this season after August's 1-1 draw. Allardyce hopes his team can draw inspiration from that - and last season's memorable 4-0 win in the same fixture - and believes Everton, who sit just three points off seventh-placed Burnley, are well placed to finish the campaign on a high note. “It’s a massive game for us to go out and show what we’ve got,” he said. “We must have a game plan in place and we’ve got master our game plan for the full 90 minutes. We’ve got to believe in what we’re doing. But we’ll have to be at our best – there’s no doubt about that. “We’ve steadied the ship. Now it’s about the last seven games and how many points we can total up.” Everton FC
