Williams Left Frustrated By "Silly Goal"Ashley Williams says Everton “did enough for a clean sheet” against Watford but were left frustrated by a “silly goal” that handed the Hornets the points.Troy Deeney struck a 79th minute winner at Vicarage Road after a tightly contested game between two sides that are in the hunt for seventh place in the Premier League table. Williams admits the Blues are frustrated to have lost ground in that race, with Burnley – who currently occupy seventh – picking up a point against Southampton, while the result also saw Watford move to just a point behind the Toffees in 10th. Everton had chances in Hertfordshire, Michael Keane saw a header go wide, Oumar Niasse had a sight of goal early on and Cenk Tosun couldn’t quite muster enough power on a final opportunity in the closing stages. But it was Watford skipper Deeney who snatched the win much to the annoyance of Williams and his fellow defenders. “I felt we did enough to get the clean sheet,” he said. “We restricted them to hardly any chances but gave them a goal through a silly mistake. It’s very frustrating. “We were the team who were in it and could have gone on to win the match. It was an even kind of game but we could have done a little bit better. We know we could have created more chances. I think Watford will feel the same way because as a team we defended well. “The game was in the balance and you always felt like it was going to be a mistake that brought a sloppy goal.” Sam Allardyce’s side must now regroup before heading back out onto the road to face Burnley in a week’s time. The Blues are still just three points off Sean Dyche’s Clarets, meaning a win at Turf Moor would move them level, with just goal difference separating the sides. Williams insists that will be the focus this week at USM Finch Farm, once the lessons have been learned, with the Wales defender pointing at an increased resiliency against Watford as the foundation for improvements as the Toffees bid to start picking up points on their travels. “We have got to do better away from home,” he added. “It was something that we spoke about before the game – we need points on the road. We knew we needed to be more solid and I thought we were on Saturday, up until the goal. “We have got another away game next week and we will need the same resiliency. But we will also need to play better with the ball and create more chances. “First things first, we will analyse this game, look at where we want wrong and where we can do better – especially with the goal we conceded – and then put it to bed.”

I gave up when SA signed. After years of hardly missing a game I have been to 2 since he joined. Unfortunately I will be at Burnley, but if he is still in charge I don't expect anything out of the game. I think SL has been in his ear, cos every time we lose, its never his fault. Typical kopite mentality

Typical kopite mentality He keeps referring to his own record which gets up my nose. I've seen a change in his attitude since the Arsenal game.
