It was a quiet and disappointing weekend for loanee trio Kieran Dowell, Callum Connolly and Joe Williams as they all saw their sides defeated in the FA Cup and Championship respectively. After his heroics in the last round of the FA Cup against Arsenal, Kieran Dowell was unable to stop his Nottingham Forest side getting knocked out in the fourth stage as Forest went down 2-1 to fellow Championship side Hull City on Saturday. Jared Bowen opened the scoring before Nouha Dicko doubled Hull’s lead. Former Everton striker Apostolos Vellios pulled one back for Forest but it was too little too late. In the Championship, Callum Connolly played 90 minutes for Ipswich Town as they lost 1-0 to league leaders Wolves on Saturday. Connolly was booked in the game as Matt Doherty got the only goal, leaving Ipswich in 12th, eight points off the play-off places. Joe Williams did not feature for Barnsley as the Tykes lost 3-1 at home to Fulham, with the away side scoring twice in second-half added time to leave Barnsley two points above the relegation zone in 19th.
