Chaney: Sunderland Goal A "Massive Moment"Ladies forward relishes in scoring her first goal since returning from ACL injury. As Chaney Boye-Hlorhak stood there, arms stretched out either side of her, her teammates made a beeline to help her celebrate. In the 36th minute of Everton Ladies’ 5-1 win over Sunderland, the forward skipped past two Black Cats defenders before arrowing a powerful drive beyond Rachael Laws to put the Blue Girls in front. Despite a pre-planned celebration routine, the emotion of the moment engulfed her. This was her first goal back since returning from her second cruciate ligament injury, and her feelings got the better of her. Thankfully she managed to get the arms out before she was mobbed by her teammates. “It was a massive moment for me - my first goal since I’ve come back into the team,” Boye-Hlorkah told evertonfc.com. “I can remember being in the changing room and all the girls were saying that if I score I had to do the arms out celebration. But when I saw it go in, the first thing I’ve done is just jump up and down! “There was a lot of emotion in it. Watching it back and even when I saw the other goals go in, my reaction is nearly the same. It was like I was scoring all of them! “It’s that little bit extra special to score in such a win, one that really shows everyone what we are all about and what we can do. You see some of the performances that we have put in without getting the right results and they have been hard to take. But to play in the manner that we did and to get the result too was great for everyone.” That success over Sunderland on Sunday was the Toffees’ fourth win in their last five games, following wins over Birmingham City, Yeovil Town and Oxford United in both league and cup competition. Such form has seen confidence sore within Andy Spence’s squad, perfect preparation then for their Continental Cup quarter final against Reading on the Select Security Stadium on Saturday. “Everyone in the team is really happy that we have a game so soon after the Sunderland win,” added Boye-Hlorkah. “We are really looking forward to Saturday’s quarter final against Reading. It’s a big game for us and one that gives us an opportunity to go out there and show what we can do against a top quality side. “The confidence is flowing for all the girls. We know what we can do. The way that we have been training, the performances that we have been putting in, it all stands us in good stead. Hopefully we can go out there and get the right result.” Everton FC
