Hornby Double Keeps Blues On TrackUnder-18s remain top of group after Premier League Cup win over Swansea CityEverton Under-18s coach Paul Tait hailed his side’s “aggressive” approach as they battled to victory against Swansea City in the Premier League Cup at USM Finch Farm. Fraser Hornby’s second-half brace was enough to secure a 2-0 win for the young Blues, who remain top of their group with maximum points from two games played. The hosts had initially struggled to break down a resilient and well-disciplined Swansea backline in the opening 45 minutes. However, after a tactical switch at the break and the introduction of Hornby, Tait’s charges began to find their rhythm. And, after going close on a couple of occasions, it was the substitute who turned home twice to make himself the Toffees’ matchwinner. “I’m delighted we’ve collected all three points and remained top of our group,” Tait told evertonfc.com. “The first half was a very tight affair. Swansea came, sat deep, looked to hit us on the counter-attack and, if I’m being honest, our play in the final third wasn’t good enough. “But we changed it up second half, brought on a couple of subs, changed our approach and, thankfully, it worked. We were much more aggressive.” The win helped Everton extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to four games and Tait believes his side now have the momentum to really kick on. “It’s really good to get another win,” he added. “Wins like today help us gain momentum and ensure we continue to raise our standards. “We just need to carry it on against Newcastle in our next game.” The young Blues travel to the north east to face the Magpies in the Under-18 Premier League on Saturday 18 November.
