Watford 0-1 StokeAway team scorersDarren Fletcher 16 A Darren Fletcher volley eased the pressure on Mark Hughes as Stoke City held on at Watford to win away from home for the first time this season. The only goal came midway through the first half as Xherdan Shaqiri, on his return from injury, picked out the Scot just outside the 18-yard box for a sweet finish. Marco Silva's Watford side, who began the day in a lofty sixth position, enjoyed long periods of possession throughout but did not have a shot until just before the hour. Brazilian Richarlison was unable to place the ball into an open goal after good work from Andre Carrillo had stretched the Potters' defence. Substitute Andre Gray skewed a shot wide as the home side became increasingly more hurried in search of an equaliser, but Stoke held firm to claim a very welcome three points in their bid to move away from the Premier League relegation zone.
