I like Allardyce - he was the first English manager to seize on what Arsenal Wenger was doing with diet and keeping your body healthy as a footballer; he has made some great signings over the years (JJ Okocha, Djorkaeff et al); and has saved so many teams from the drop. I have never been bothered by off the field antics of managers, especially regarding transfer dealings - it doesn’t make them bad managers (notably Brian Clough, Terry Venables). And he seems to be doing the business for us, even if only to frustrate some of the arrogant top clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea. Like any new manager, he is not going to turn us from relegation candidates to world beaters overnight, but starting with clean sheets and being hard to beat is a great basis on which to build both confidence and capability.

I think he is a short term option, but has been effective. Awful football though

The Daily Mail are now reporting that there has been discussion about not only not sacking Sam Allardyce, but giving him a one year extension (!!) to his current deal that spans until the end of next season.
