Koeman Says Future Will Show Everton Made Right Moves With Signings Ronald Koeman has no doubts the future will show Everton's summer signings 'were really good ones'. The Blues snapped up the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Davy Klaassen and Sandro Ramirez in pre-season. However, a challenging start to the campaign has stalled early optimism of bettering the seventh-place finish of the previous term. Nevertheless, with plenty of the season still to play, Koeman is unshaken in his faith in his squad and says the future will show why the new players are here at Everton. “I still believe in the players and I still believe in the signings that we made in the summer,” he said. “Maybe some people can have doubts about some of them at the moment but the future will tell everybody that the signings we made were really good ones. “We need to take the situation for what it is now and prepare our team for Sunday. Of course, we have discussions internally about the tough start, the fixtures, Europa League football but the position in the table is not where we need to stay and that is what we need to change. “It will take hard work on the training ground – and that is not so easy with three games in a week. We don’t have much time to train; it is more about recovery and preparing for the next game." It was the visit of Arsenal last season that saw the Toffees snap a run of one win in 10 games, as goals from Seamus Coleman and Ashley Williams helped them to a 2-1 win at Goodison Park. With the current squad going through a tricky patch, Koeman insists there is no reason to suggest that cannot happen again when the two clubs meet at Goodison on Sunday. And he challenged his players to emulate the big wins they enjoyed over the Premier League’s top sides in the 2016/17 campaign against a Gunners team yet to win on the road this term in the Premier League. “If you look back at last season we had some great games at home against some of the big teams in the Premier League,” he added. “Why not against Arsenal [this Sunday]? “They are not unbeatable, they are not the strongest team away from home, but we know we need to improve. But if we bring aggression in the right way then we have a good chance to win the game. “Arsenal rested 10 or 11 outfield players [in their Europa League win over Red Star Belgrade] who could start this Sunday. We also took some decisions to give players a rest as well and I think it is a great game to play.” Everton FC
