Don't be suprised Avinalaff, I've been going to Goodison fortnightly now since 1954.
Like rugbytoffee who has done nearly 50 years, I've seen some dross over the 63 years I've been going but I've never been so disenchanted as I am this season. I thought the season when we could have gone down in the second half rescue against Wimbledon was my worst, but the main difference between then and now is 'player attitude' plus I'm not as fanatical as I was then.
There's too much money in the game, why should a player worry if he can sit on the bench and earn £70K+ and get called on for a short while. They think they're Demi Gods - Yes I know football has changed and players are fitter, more athletic etc. but I remember when as a youth I could get a player's autograph with just a respectful request. Now, you can't get near them! Why do managers now come with an entourage? - "Self Protection" - Koeman must have half of Holland working for him. It's so easy when you've got the money to buy players but at what price and of what quality?
Everton First team don't appear to be passionate, committed or even interested at times.
However I'll be there Saturday!!!
I think there's quite a few factors going on at the moment. We sold our best player to our closest rivals in terms of league position. We bought players for large fees which raised expectancy. We failed to buy a quality striker, or, cover for a few other positions. On the last day, we tried to sell Niasse and Barkley to recoup money spent. Our fixture list (with a new team) was as bad as we could have hoped for. I don't think much of Koeman's footballing style, as it's hardly Barcelona-esque, and we are making far too many errors which are costing us. Even last night, we should have been 1-0 down, when for no reason, Williams opted to play a short pass to Besic, who had a man-on, and turned only to lose the ball. It's stupidity from our players. Besic needs minutes on the pitch, but what is Williams excuse? If I were able to change the team 'today', I'd get shut of Baines, Williams, Jagielka, Stekelenburg, Robles, Mirallas, Lennon, McCarthy, and Besic needs to step up as he tries to be too clever. Hopefully we'll have both Bolasie, and Barkley back soon. I would definitely get rid of the players you mentioned save Baines as I think he would be decent cover for a new left back if we buy one next season. Shame about Besic. He's got the aggression and can play a bit but not the footballing brain to make it big here...or maybe he really needs game time to adjust to the Prem.

It's early in the campaign and every game has been hard. We won the game we were expected to win against Stoke, and took an unexpected point from Manchester City, but the other games we were expected to lose and we did. I don't know if some fans expected more, but without Lukaku and also the factor of having a lot of new players, we probably need to be realistic at the moment.

Actually both you, 'evertonfan 1968 and Avinalaff' are right in many respects; maybe I should look at myself and be less aggresive in my criticism.
