If he thought that might happen, why not protect the player and use the 3rd sub? Also, and this is very deep, but in a game where there is so much paranoia over corruption, it would be interesting to suggest he wasn't sent off to even it up, but was left on the pitch long enough to hamper City, and sent off to benefit Chelsea. That was deep and was a very good point. Chelsea look to have their injured players back by Sunday which include Hazard. We always seem to lose a crucial player before we play them and it always kicks us in the face.

A decent result but we failed to control possession in the 2nd half. I'll take it even if it's slightly disappointing. We've a long way to go looking at tonight. We look like a bunch of guys who don't really have a plan, and I appreciate it will take time, but we have to stop setting our stall out to defend against the other top teams, and start believing. I don't think we're far off but I agree we need to start trying to get more than just a point against teams like them. I don't mind us trying to nullify their attack (Chelsea did it to great affect against Spurs) but we need to be able to cause them trouble on the break more often than once. There's more positives than negatives though.

I thought it ironic that raheem claimed we had one chance to score and we did, seeing how we made a mistake that just happened to fall at his feet. The stars had to align for him to put one in the net...

The stars had to align for him to put one in the net... Sterling of all people. I didn't think we were going to let one in. I was gutted as we'd defended really well. A great display by DCL who didn't stop running all night.

toffeeowl What did you think of tonight's match mate? Thought it was a very good team performance. Hopefully as the players get used to playing with each other and the likes of Sandro and Gylfi get fully match fit then we'll be a bit more adventurous but at the present time I'm more than happy. I have a feeling come the end of the season it's more likely to be a point gained rather than two points lost in relation to most other teams going to the Etihad. I was particularly impressed with the younger players, especially Calvert-Lewin and Holgate who until his poor header leading to the City goal had one of his most impressive games for us. Unlike John Stones I have a feeling he'll learn from that mistake and continue to improve with game time. As a team if we learn to not keep giving the ball away so cheaply the results away from home against the top teams in the league will improve, hopefully starting this week with 3 points at Stamford Bridge. As an aside I liked RK being positive in his substitutions although on this case I don't think they worked the way he planned.
