According to reports from L’Equipe, Everton have made a formal approach to sign Moussa Sissoko on loan. Spurs signed Sissoko for £30 million on the transfer deadline day last summer, as reported by Sky Sports, but the Frenchman has failed to justify his price tag at White Hart Lane. He had a disappointing 2016/17 campaign for Spurs, failing to make enough impact for the north London club. He has struggled for regular games under Mauricio Pohettino, and could be sold this summer. The report claims that Everton have made a formal approach in recent weeks, although the Toffees have requested for a loan deal. However, the offer didn’t impress Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who prefers a permanent transfer for the 27-year-old. Apart from Everton, there have been interest from other French clubs – Marseille and Lyon – but neither of them have submitted a concrete offer. The former Newcastle midfielder has Premier League experience under his belt but is he the type of player Everton should be looking at? With a potential loan move out of the window, it remains to be seen whether Everton come up with a better offer next time. Source: HITC

If we're looking at loan players when we haven't even spent a penny yet then for me it signals alarm bells.
