Last night nearly 600 Evertonians attended a special event arranged by Chairman Bill Kenwright to thank them for their loyal support.
Fans who attended the exclusive event received a 2017/18 away shirt ahead of its release, courtesy of the Chairman and new Main Partner SportPesa.
All supporters - who all followed Ronald Koeman’s side on the road during the 2016/17 season - were invited to the Blues on Tour event at Camp and Furnace as a thank you for their away support during the campaign.
Everton Giant Peter Reid, Under-23s contingent Gethin Jones, Anton Donkor and Nathangelo Markelo, and former players Alan Stubbs and Steve Watson all took to the stage at various points in the evening to discuss their respective careers with the Club and hopes for the coming season. Those Toffees in attendance also got the chance to hear first-hand from American architect Dan Meis.
Fans were given a chance to win a signed Wayne Rooney shirt with an Everton-themed quiz, as well as free refreshments - all while watching extended highlights of Everton’s 2-1 victory over Gor Mahia from earlier in the day.
The Club’s new Main Sponsor, SportPesa, who provided supporters with free coach travel for Everton’s Premier League trip to Swansea City in May, also provided fans in attendance with a goodie bag that included a passport holder for the Club’s 2017/18 UEFA Europa League adventure and the new away shirt.
“I was very impressed with the away support the team received during my first season here,” manager Koeman said in a recorded message. “We had that kind of support that everyone wants and we know that is how Evertonians support their team.
“Our message is: please continue it! Hopefully we can win a few more games away from home next season so you are even prouder than you already are at the moment.”
Chairman Bill Kenwright also sent a pre-recorded message to those at the city centre venue.
“When we decided to do this a few months back, it really was because of how much I marvel at our away support,” he said. “I marvel at our support at Goodison, too! But no matter who I am sitting next to at an away game, I always find myself saying, ‘Just look at them!’.
Shaun Simmonds of SportPesa UK, added: “We know how passionate and dedicated Everton’s away fans are and we wanted to do something special to reward their loyalty.”
