Blues have option to buy 27-year-old forward but are poised to look elsewhere for reinforcements
Everton are ready to pass up on the chance to sign Enner Valencia on a permanent deal.
The Blues signed the 27-year-old on a season-long loan in August with the option of buying him from West Ham United in a transfer worth around £11million.
But the ECHO understands that after weeks of talks, Everton are in the process of walking away from negotiations.
Ronald Koeman will have the final say on the deal and it is believed he wants the club to pursue other forward targets this summer.
Valencia only made seven starts this season and came off the bench 16 times but would often make an impact, particularly at Goodison.
Koeman remains set on Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson and has also talked up the possibility of moving for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, who is likely to leave Old Trafford during the forthcoming transfer window.

Why sign him if we only play him every blue moon? Only sign players who are going to push for a start.
