Everton's Opponents In Tanzania ConfirmedGraham Stuart guest of honour in Dar es Salaam as Gor Mahia FC win SportPesa Super Cup.Gor Mahia FC have earned the chance to play Everton in a pre-season game in Tanzania next month after they were crowned champions of the SportPesa Super Cup. Blues Ambassador Graham Stuart travelled to Dar es Salaam to be one of the guests of honour at the final on Sunday afternoon. The former Blues midfielder presented the trophy to Gor Mahia captain Haron Shakava after they beat fellow Kenyan side AFC Leopards 3-0 to secure glory. The contest was won courtesy of well-taken second-half goals from Timothy Otieno, Oliver Maloba and John Ndirangu. Toffees boss Ronald Koeman will bring his squad to the East African nation as part of the Club's 2017/18 pre-season schedule, with the match against Gor Mahia taking place at the 60,000-capacity National Stadium on Thursday 13 July. Gor Mahia are based in Nairobi and are Kenya’s most successful club, having won the country’s top division a record 15 times. “Gor Mahia played really well and cemented the win with three good goals,” said Stuart. “They thoroughly deserved to be the winners of the SportPesa Super Cup and can now look forward to playing us in July. “It was great to make the trip over and be a special guest representative at the final. The hospitality has been magnificent and you can sense that everyone is very excited about Everton coming over to play a match here next month.” July's trip, which will see Everton become the first Premier League club to play a game in Tanzania, celebrates the Club’s new main partnership with gaming giant SportPesa that was announced in May. SportPesa is offering complimentary match tickets to Everton supporters making the journey to Tanzania (travel not included). Any supporters wishing to travel to Dar es Salaam are urged to consult the latest travel advice available from the UK Foreign Office. Everton FC

Diamond's Gor Mahia Scouting Report"We will have a test on our hands," says Blues Ambassador after returning from Tanzania.Graham Stuart believes Everton will have a “test on their hands” when Ronald Koeman takes his squad to Dar es Salaam in July to play Gor Mahia. The Club Ambassador was able to compile a mini scouting report on the Toffees’ opponents in Tanzania after being a special guest at the SportPesa Super Cup final on Sunday, which was won by the Kenyan champions. Gor Mahia convincingly beat rivals AFC Leopards 3-0 at the Uhuru Stadium to earn the opportunity to play Everton in what will be a groundbreaking fixture in the East African nation on 13 July. As part of the new partnership with SportPesa, Everton will be the first Premier League club to play a game in Tanzania. “Gor Mahia played very well on Sunday,” said Stuart. “They edged the first half without scoring but once they got their first goal, they relaxed and played some wonderful football. “As you get with African sides, they are fit, strong and have an appetite for the game. Their attitude was excellent. “They are up to speed in terms of their season and with it being one of our first games of the summer, it could be a bit of a leveller. And there are the conditions as well - it’s very hot and sticky. “The final was played on Astroturf and it will be a different venue in July when we play on a grass pitch [at the National Stadium], but they passed the ball around well and technically they’ve got some good players. They were well-organised and, first and foremost, they work really hard.” The manner of Gor Mahia’s victory was even more impressive considering seven of their first-team regulars were missing having been called up international duty with Kenya. “In some respects, you could say that was their second-string side that went out and beat the Leopards 3-0,” added Stuart. “They are going to be a really strong side. “There is such an appetite for football over here in Tanzania and Kenya. We are looking forward to coming out and, one thing for sure, we’ve got a real test on our hands come July.” Everton FC

I can see it being mostly fringe players given we have players getting late holidays, plus we go to war in Europe.

Schneiderlin Makes Early Visit To TanzaniaMorgan Schneiderlin has been preparing for Everton’s pre-season trip to Tanzania by making an early visit to the east African nation! The Everton midfielder is currently enjoying a safari honeymoon with his new bride Camille after they were married earlier this month. Schneiderlin took to social media to post a video of himself having a kickaround with local children in a Maasai village, accompanied with the message: 'A bit of fun today with the kids from a school in Tanzania #lovefootball #thankyoutanzania”.’ The Frenchman will be returning to Tanzania with his teammates in July when Everton make the 5,000-mile journey to Dar-Es-Salaam to play a pre-season game against Gor Mahia. The groundbreaking venture, which celebrates the Club’s new association with SportPesa, sees Everton become the first Premier League team to play a match in the country. Since the partnership was announced in May, Everton officials have already made two visits to Tanzania. CEO Robert Elstone was joined by former Toffee Leon Osman on a visit at the start of June and, less than a fortnight ago, Blues Ambassador Graham Stuart jetted out to represent Everton at the SportPesa Super Cup final - the tournament held to determined which club will face Ronald Koeman’s side at the Tanzania National Stadium on Thursday 13 July.
