Everton In the Community’s Deaf Football Team have officially opened Liverpool’s new Amplifon store. Players and coaches supported the store launch by cutting the ribbon at the new branch, located on Church Street, while Steve Johnson, Everton in the Community’s Disability Manager, took part in a short hearing test designed to act as a first indicator for hearing loss. Steve, who was given a clean bill of health by Nicky Fletcher, Amplifon Audiologist, said: “I was surprised at just how easy it was to take the hearing test. Most of us wouldn’t think twice about getting our eyes tested and we really need to look after our ears in the same way. “It was great for the Deaf Football Team to officially launch the new Amplifon branch, so a big thank you for the invitation.” The partnership follows Amplifon’s pledge to support UK Deaf Sport – a charity that supports those with hearing loss lead an active life – through their recommend-a-friend scheme. Steve added: “As a club we always want to be involved in projects within the local community and I hope this helps to raise awareness that even those living with hearing impairments can still take part in physical activity.” Amplifon, which helps customers in more than 20 countries and has 8,600 hearing centres worldwide, has relocated to the city centre. Audiologist Nicky said: “We were delighted the team were able to join us for the opening, and to take part in the hearing test. Our staff even got involved and tested their football skills! “We hope the residents of Liverpool will follow Steve’s example and get their hearing tested regularly. Our new location means we’re right in the heart of Liverpool so it’s much easier for customers to drop in and see us. “We look forward to welcoming the people of Liverpool to the branch for a free hearing assessment and helping them to rediscover the joy of better hearing.”
