Everton will not be issuing a statement on the future of Ross Barkley today. Blues boss Ronald Koeman is understood to have held talks with the club’s board about the 23-year-old. Koeman issued an end of season deadline for Barkley to give Everton an answer after they offered him a new contract.

They probably set that price because they know he is a wanted player but are not really willing to sell but if the price is right they would and maybe not to a league rival. Ross has had a fluctuating season and although his skill fantastic and the potential is there he has block and i believe it is because he has been spoon fed since breaking into the 1st team and the national team so now he needs competition for his place in Everton's team and that is what the boss is doing same reason he has been left out of the national team with Dele Alli exploding, yes some can argue that his situation is similar to Ross's but Dele has competition at Spurs Ross really doesn't and if RK was coach at the time I believe things would have been different not only for Ross but for the team as well.

As much as I would like him to stay ( feel like I am in the minority now) but, apparently he has been advised not to sign the contract on offer. My interpretation is that, if he follows that advice, he no longer wants to play for Everton. Almost but not quite a transfer request? Everton should stick rigidly to the £50m that have placed on his head, and. as he refuses to commit to Everton, they should not commit to his future and possible England future (in a world cup year). Stick him in the U23's or lower. Treat him as a 1st team outcast. It would be interesting to see how many teams would be willing to pay him the wages he is after, with 12 months out of 1st team action.

Everton give up on re-signing Ross BarkleyThough the Toffees will now reluctantly listen to summer offers the midfielder may have to wait for a Bosman in 2018Everton accept they have reached the end of the line in contract talks with Ross Barkley. And that means they will reluctantly consider offers for the England international. Midfielder Barkley has made it clear he will not budge in refusing the £100,000-a-week offer that would make him the highest-earning player in club history. Chairman Bill Kenwright has been working for more than a year in the hope of persuading the home-grown star to commit his long-term future to the Toffees. Everton were prepared to offer Barkley a better deal than the one Romelu Lukaku originally accepted earlier this year, before a u-turn saw the Belgian striker announce he wanted to leave the club just minutes before putting pen to paper. But the 23-year-old Scouser has dragged his feet over the new five-year contract, and his advisors indicated on Wednesday that there would be no 11th hour acceptance. While the Goodison board still want to make Barkley - with his close connection to the fans after coming through the club’s youth system - the foundation of a squad set to be significantly enhanced in the summer transfer window, manager Ronald Koeman is unwilling to indulge any player who isn't 100 per cent committed. And with negotiations collapsing, that means the Dutchman will listen to offers for his playmaker, with both Tottenham AND Manchester United expressing interest. Barkley may feel he can attract a bigger offer from those two clubs, but the stumbling block could be a fee. Everton have indicated the asking price is £50million - which could see an impasse build over the summer, with the player considering seeing out the final year of his current contract before moving on a Bosman after next season. I guess the biggest question is one that asks is Barkley doing enough for Everton? If he is, then great, but if not, then what's the big deal?
