Ramiro Funes Mori was forced from the field after just 36 minutes in Argentina’s 2-0 defeat to Bolivia on Tuesday evening. The defender departed the action on a stretcher after suffering an injury in the World Cup qualifier in La Paz. Funes Mori was restored to the Argentina team for the fixture after missing their 3-0 win over Colombia last Thursday through suspension. The former River Plate man has made 26 appearances for Everton this season.

Funes Likely To Miss Rest Of SeasonRamiro Funes Mori could miss the remainder of the season after injuring his knee whilst on international duty with Argentina. It has been confirmed that the defender suffered a torn meniscus in Argentina’s 2-0 defeat to Bolivia on Tuesday evening. Funes Mori was forced off after just 36 minutes in the World Cup qualifier in La Paz. He will have a surgical opinion next week but the initial diagnosis suggests the 26-year-old is likely to be out of action for the rest of the campaign. Since joining from River Plate in September 2015, Funes Mori has played 63 times for Everton, scoring five goals.

Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori is expected to spend between six and nine months on the sidelines after undergoing further surgery on a knee injury, the club said on Wednesday. The Argentina international made 23 Premier League appearances for Everton last season but sustained the season-ending injury while on international duty in March. And any hopes the 26-year-old had of returning early next season were dashed after the defender suffered a serious setback during his recuperation.
