Midfielder Conor Grant was involved in a top-of-the-table clash for Doncaster Rovers at the weekend. Leaders Donny had built up a healthy six-point lead after three straight wins in League Two ahead of Saturday’s meeting with second-placed Plymouth Argyle. But the Pilgrims reduced that advantage to just three with a 1-0 success at the Keepmoat Stadium, thanks to Sonny Bradley’s header. Grant played throughout the game, which saw Rovers’ unbeaten home record come to an end. Both Doncaster and Plymouth have just seven games to play, although both sides are almost certainly guaranteed promotion to League One with Argyle 13 points clear of fourth-placed Stevenage. League OneConor McAleny – Played 70 minutes and saw a curling shot fly narrowly wide as Oxford United were dealt a blow to their play-off hopes with a 0-0 draw at Northampton. The U’s would have closed the gap on sixth-placed Southend United to just five points with victory but despite the efforts of McAleny and co. they were denied by the Cobblers. League TwoAntony Evans – Introduced as a second-half substitute with Morecambe chasing the game against Mansfield. The visitors to the Shrimps’ Globe Arena went in front after just four minutes through Danny Rose, but quickly levelled via Paul Mullin. But Rose struck again and Ben Whiteman secured a vital 3-1 win for play-off chasing Mansfield. Calum Dyson – The young striker was an unused sub as Grimsby Town were held to a 1-1 draw by Accrington Stanley. Akwasi Asante looked like giving the Mariners the win but Shay McCartan rescued a point with a late 20-yard strike.
