Everton send scouts to watch Vincent AboubakarBesiktas striker's night ended in disaster after straight red cardEverton and Crystal Palace watched striker Vincent Aboubakar and former Arsenal midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup play for Besiktas against Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday. Aboubakar, 25, is on loan from Porto and was a target for Everton last summer, while Dutch-born Ozyakup, 24, is a Turkey international with 23 caps. Both players started the game, and the scouts saw the best and worst of Aboubakar in a topsy-turvy first half. After the Cameroonian striker had opened the scoring in the 10th minute, he was sent off for an off-the-ball headbutt five minutes before the half-time break. Ozyakup, meanwhile, managed to last an hour before being taken off for Necip Uysal with his side leading 2-1. The Dutch-born midfielder began his career at the Emirates, coming through the youth set-up before graduating to Arsene Wenger's first-team. He made one first-team appearance, in the League Cup against Shrewsbury, but was shipped out to Besiktas before he could make a real impact. On Thursday night, Besiktas booked their place in the last eight with an eventual 4-1 victory, following on from their first-leg win to knock Olympiacos out of the Europa League. Daily Mail

How was he an Everton target but ended up on loan? Probably because they wanted £16m and we wouldn't pay it.
