Ladies Duo Confident Ahead Of DerbyPlease note, in the event that Leicester are involved in a UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final fixture on the following Tuesday (i.e. 11 April 2017), then this fixture will move back to Saturday 8 April 2017, with a 12:30pm kick-off. Everton Ladies assistant boss Martin Ho and captain Michelle Hinnigan both insist the Blue Girls will go into Sunday’s Merseyside derby high on confidence. In their previous outing, Everton defeated Sheffield FC to leap to the top of the WSL 2 Spring Series table, and Ho was impressed by the mental resilience he saw in the 2-1 win. That, he says, will be called on again when the Toffees resume hostilities with close-rivals Liverpool in the FA Women’s Cup fifth round, kick-off 2pm at Select Security Halton Stadium in Widnes. “It’s a big game for the Club and a big game for the players,” he said. “Everyone wants to play in a Merseyside derby but the Sheffield game will stand them in good stead for it. “If we can show the same attitude and work rate, I can’t fault them. If we come out victorious, we come out victorious but the group of players we’ve got will take a lot of the credit because they are the ones that can make the difference on the day. “If they compete like they have done so far this season, that will make a big difference on the field and hopefully help see us go through to the next round.” Hinnigan (above), meanwhile, is delighted with what she has seen within the group in the build-up to the biggest game of the campaign so far. No stranger to a Merseyside derby, the captain has been especially pleased with the attacking threat Everton have posed in their four wins so far, scoring 14 times and conceding just five. Such form gives Hinnigan confidence despite the divisional difference. “It is massive for us,” she added. “We know Merseyside derbies are always going to be tough because Liverpool have a good side in WSL 1. But it is our chance to go out there and show what we can do against one of the best sides in the country. Hopefully we can go into the game and come away with a win. “Last season, if we went behind or were level, we knew we had the quality to step it up. The chances in the first half against Sheffield, even the ones we missed were giving us confidence in our attack. We want to take that into the Liverpool game.” Everton FC

Levell: We'll Take Game To LiverpoolFor those born and raised in Liverpool, no game comes bigger than a Merseyside derby. So for Kirstie Levell, Sunday cannot come soon enough. The Everton Ladies keeper has helped her side through to the FA Women’s Cup fifth round, featuring in the wins over Brighouse Town and Durham, booking a mouth-watering tie with rivals Liverpool in the process. A WSL 1 side and favourites for the tie they may be, but the Reds have yet to kick off their Spring Series campaign, and have only entered the Cup at this round. The Blue Girls, meanwhile, are four games unbeaten into their own season and Levell says confidence is high within the camp. “We are going to take the game to them,” she insisted. “Maybe in the past we have sometimes just gone into a derby trying to hold on. But we are confident going into the game. It is a positive for us that we are four games into our season and they haven’t kicked off theirs yet. “We have been scoring plenty of goals already but being a goalkeeper, the main aim for me is to keep a clean sheet. Hopefully I can get one against Liverpool, and the strikers can do the business at the other end and win us the game. We have all been doing our best in training this week to ensure we are at our best and good to go.” Liverpool have been rebuilding after their consecutive WSL title wins back in 2013 and 2014 but still boast plenty of talent. At the back, England internationals Gemma Bonner and Casey Stoney combine youth and experience in front of fellow Lioness Siobhan Chamberlain in goal. Scotland international Caroline Weir and Wales stalwart Tash Harding provide goals from midfield, with Kate Longhurst an experienced option up front. But Levell is confident the Everton backline can stand up to the challenge presented before them in the clash at the Select Security Stadium (2pm kick-off). “We know that Liverpool like to get shots off from wherever they are in the attacking third so we have to be aware of that,” she added. “Inside or outside of the box, they will look to get shots off early. “We also have to be alert when defending set pieces as their delivery is really good. That does put a little extra pressure on me because I know I will have to organise the defence that little bit quicker so we are ready to defend them. “I go into every match confident that the back four are going to have a good game, whoever may be in it. Our defending has been really good so far this season. Each player covers their teammates and work really hard. We’ll do that again against Liverpool.”

Everton Take Liverpool To Extra-Time Liverpool took an early lead against Everton but ended up being taken to extra-time by the WSL 2 team before eventually emerging 2-1 winners. Tash Harding puts the Reds ahead in the 8th minute, converting Caroline Weir's cross at the near post. Ali Johnson was close to getting a second but Kirstie Levell tipped her curling shot wide. There were chances at both ends 10 minutes into the second half, as Liverpool's Kate Longhurst saw her header cleared off the line and Siobhan Chamberlain denied Claudia Walker at point blank range, tipping the ball over the crossbar. Everton equalised on 69 minutes when Simone Magill was in the right place to guide the ball home from close range. Katie Zelem nearly avoided the need for the extra half-hour but her strike from distance hit the Toffees' post. In the second period of extra-time, Magill also hit the woodwork and moments later, Shanice van der Sanden headed the winner from Johnson's cross.
