According to The Express, Everton are ready to challenge Manchester City for the signature of Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford this summer. Pickford, 22, has come up through the ranks at Sunderland, and after a host of loan spells that saw him move from non-league to the Championship, he has broken into the Sunderland first team. The England Under-21 goalkeeper has made 16 Premier League appearances this season, and whilst he's been out with a knee injury of late, he's primed for a return – and clubs are circling for his signature.

Everton are willing to offer in-demand Sunderland ace Jordan Pickford a bumper contract this summer in a bid to tempt him to Merseyside, according to fresh reports. And the Express report that Ronald Koeman's Toffees are willing to offer a £90,000-a-week deal in order to tempt Pickford, who has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, to move to Goodison Park.

90k a week is a lot for a relegated 22 year old keeper.

Everton have made the first move in their pursuit of Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford by lodging a £10million offer. The Toffees have acted quickly and tested the water on Wearside with an opening bid. That was rejected out-of-hand by the decision-makers at the Stadium of Light, who want more than double that figure for the England Under-21 international. www.birminghammail.co.uk

You'd think they'd just have a phone call, thrash it out, and agree a deal.
