Blues Win Training Game In DubaiEverton rounded off their stay in Dubai with a 4-0 training game win against Chinese side Shenzhen, much to the delight of manager Ronald Koeman. Ross Barkley, Enner Valencia and Arouna Kone put the Blues into a healthy lead at half-time. Valencia completed the scoring with his second goal of the game shortly after the restart, before Mateusz Hewelt then saved a penalty to preserve the clean sheet. The game was played in difficult conditions, with a sandstorm swirling around the Nad Al Sheba Sports complex throughout. “We played well and made some good goals,” Koeman told evertontv. “The boys showed a great attitude. It’s the end of the week and most of the players are a little bit tired but they showed a professional attitude that you want to see as a coach. I’ve liked that the most from this week. “It was a good save for the penalty [from Hewelt] and it’s always nice to have a clean sheet. Overall the boys worked hard in difficult conditions. “Everything has gone well and we’ve had a good week.” Seventeen players got run-outs for the Toffees, including 90 minutes of action for Phil Jagielka, Ross Barkley and Mason Holgate, plus goalscorers Kone and Valencia. “Some players who have not played a lot in the last few weeks got a chance to play today,” Koeman added. “You like to everybody in a good physical state. “We will get some players like James McCarthy and Kevin Mirallas back for next week. Aaron Lennon was ill for two days. “We start again next week to prepare for the Sunderland game.”
