This is where I get confused, or disillusioned with which ever staff writes the above column.
Let's look at the points:
1. Everton continue to be ‘more aggressive’ on their travelsIf that's the case, why have we struggled all season away from home, winning just 4 games out of 13? Our performance yesterday was lacking tenacity, with poor pressing, so am I watching a different game than everybody else, or did the writer of the article, like so many others written by the club, decide they were going to paint a very different picture to the real one to influence their fanbase?
2. Joel proved his worth againI agree with this, and have been very impressed with Joel Robles, although there are a few things I feel he could improve on, such as not standing a long way out from his goal line. He still looks like he has a mistake in him, but overall he's been very good, so credit where it's due.
3. Baines remains Mr ReliableI have a different expectation of Baines than Graeme Sharp.
Baines has been reliable defensively, but attacking wise he's been nothing short of insipid by his own standards. He's becoming more like Tony Hibbert, and appears afraid to cross the half way line. I'm starting to feel that without Steven Pienaar, he isn't a fraction of the attacking threat that he was, so either we get a midfielder to work with him, and get him back up to speed in attack, or I'd be happy to give the position to Brendan Galloway, who was hugely impressive during Leighton's absence.
4. Davies a willing runner from midfieldTom Davies has done well.
I try not to expect too much from him, as he is very young, but I agree that he is willing, and together with Mason Holgate, have injected a bit of life into our team.
5. Lookman again impressesI'm still trying to establish Lookman's position, as he plays very close to the half way line. It's far too early to judge him, but if he's going to be a regular starter, then he must start putting the ball in the net, as the first team isn't a place for young players to 'eventually' get up to speed in, and they have to be ready 'now'. He looks to have a bit of quality about him, but I'll need to see a bit more of him.
