Trip Into The UnknownLadies boss Andy Spence admits he's had to study up on Cup opponents Brighouse. Andy Spence admits he has had to do his homework on FA Women’s Cup opponents Brighouse Town but insists Everton Ladies will given them plenty of respect on Sunday. The Blue Girls travel to the FA Women’s Premier League side for the third round tie, their first competitive outing of the new campaign. Their opponents, however, are deep in-season, having started back in August. Albeit with limited resources, Spence has seen enough to know his side will be sternly tested if they want to reach the fourth round draw. “We didn’t know too much about them in terms of having watched them play but we have been once or twice to see them because they are in-season at the moment,” he told evertontv. “We have also analysed some footage of them but we will be going into the game with not a huge amount of information on them. But they had a good win in the last round, winning 4-3 against Long Eaton, and from what I have seen and been told they definitely carry a threat in attack. “Certainly we will have to be prepared for that. Like with any opponents, we will give them our maximum respect. “It is at their home ground and they’ll have a big crowd there so these things can add up to a dangerous situation if you aren’t prepared. From our perspective, it is about making sure we are ready for what will be a tough tie.” Everton have plenty of history with the FA Women’s Cup, having lifted the trophy on two occasions. In 1989 – as Leasowe Pacific – they beat Friends of Fulham 3-2, before beating Arsenal in 2010. Spence and his players are eager to progress as far as they can in this year’s competition. “It is a competition that we all enjoy,” he added. “There is nothing better than playing in competitive games – the players will certainly tell you that. To have had four weeks of training straight into a Cup game is great and it is a competition we have done well in over the years, winning a couple of finals and been close a couple of times. “Our aim is very much to go as far as we can in the tournament. Hopefully it will give us plenty of games to embed the work we have been doing in pre-season.” Everton FC Want to reply to articles as a guest?Loads more Everton News HEREREGISTER WITH LOVE EVERTON FORUM HERE Checkout our site map HERE
