I hope we aren't going to get embroiled in yet another case of supposed 'sleeping partners' hiding in the wings and also being part owners of another club. For some reason there seems to be a lot of money men getting involved in British clubs and for one, I don't like it. It seems Usmanov ploughs £30m into the training ground which is owned by the Council. Why? If this isn't a 'backdoor' investment then I don't know what is. but; I'm just a supporter..........who cares?
Oh, to be back at the 'good ol' days' when football was just a brilliant Saturday afternoon out watching normal men playing the game we all love for not much more money than the average worker earned. I remember coming to the match with Roy Vernon having a fag on the top deck of the bus; now, they are chauffeured to the match in their Bentleys & Rolls.
I must be getting old! Do we need his money? 30 million over a number of years is hardly going to boost our finances. No we don't need his money but this is peanuts to him and it's just the 'way-in' for him.

Am I the only one who feels a bit uneasy about all this?

The Russian is not an investor at Everton, in fact, as far as we know, he has no part at the club aside from his company, USM Holdings, sponsoring the training ground.
So the fact he was part of these discussions suggested that he was either a more significant player at Everton than everyone realised, or was planning to be more involved down the line.
In some quarters it was suggested that the offer of investment and backing down the line from Usmanov would have tempted Ancelotti to buy into Everton’s ‘project’.
That appears to have now become a step closer to happening, with Usmanov revealing to the Financial Times he would ‘happily’ join his friend Moshiri at Everton.
“Yes. With great pleasure, if he asks,” he told the newspaper.
“I am thinking about my investment in this club. I cannot reject Arsenal.
“I will not leave them as a fan. But if I join Everton, then I will wear an Everton shirt, because I am a professional.
“They are going to build a new stadium. Why not the USM Arena? It is not obligatory for me to participate myself. I could just sponsor them.”
“What is the remedy for love? New love. If you think like a Muslim, who can have four wives or a harem?
“ I love Arsenal, but I failed. What can I do? But I also believe Arsenal lost something without Usmanov.”

Hundreds of police officers have raided two dozen properties across Germany believed to be linked to Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, an ally of President Vladimir Putin.
The searches were undertaken in connection with alleged breaches of sanctions and money-laundering rules, officials said.
State and federal police were searching 24 properties in Bavaria, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, prosecutors in Frankfurt and Munich said in separate statements.
The statement by Frankfurt prosecutors named the suspect only as a Russian businessman, but German weekly Der Spiegel, which first reported the raids - conducted by about 250 police officers - named him as Mr Usmanov.
Mr Usmanov is subject to sanctions in the UK, the US and the European Union. Until earlier this year the Uzbekistan-born billionaire had links to Everton, with his company USM Holdings providing a number of Blues sponsorship agreements
Frankfurt prosecutors said the suspect of their investigation was alleged to have conducted several transactions between 2017 and 2022 using a complex network of offshore companies to hide the origin of the payments, which amounted to millions of euros.
"There is a suspicion that the sums transferred resulted from crimes, in particular tax evasion," prosecutors said.
Munich prosecutors said in a statement that their investigation centred on allegations of payments being made to security companies guarding the properties, in breach of sanctions rules.
Back in March, Mr Usmanov issued his response to being sanctioned by the EU after Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine on the website of the FIE (International Fencing Federation) of which he has been the President since 2008.
