Confirmed: Everton winger joins Championship club on loanThe 21-year-old will play at the Tykes until the end of the seasonGethin Jones has joined Championship side Barnsley on loan until the end of the season. The 21-year-old played for Everton's under-23s last night against Reading at Goodison but has today sealed his move to Oakwell. Jones is one of a number of u-23 players who are out of contract at the end of the campaign and it is understood to move to Barnsley is with a view to potentially making it a permanent switch. David Unsworth had confirmed that he expected to see plenty of movement in and out of his squad this month and Jones joins Conor Grant and Callum Connolly in securing loan moves away from the Blues. The spell in the Football League will be Jones' second of his Everton career after a brief stint with Plymouth Argyle in 2015 where he made eight appearances as the Pilgrims reached the League Two play-off semi-final. Barnsley are 10 in the Championship and in the hunt for promotion this season. The Tykes' play tonight in an FA Cup replay against Blackpool before facing Leeds United on Saturday. Unless I've missed something, his contract at Everton runs out in June, so it looks like that's going to be a start of a new career move.
Good luck to the lad.
