Ronald Koeman winning battle with Everton hierarchy over recruitment as he eyes major rebuild at Goodison ParkThe Dutchman recently blasted the club over transfer failings and is now lining up £20million moves for both Burnley defender Michael Keane and Morgan SchneiderlinRonald Koeman is winning his battle with Everton following his outspoken attack on the club’s recruitment policy. Everton have lined up a £20million summer move for Burnley defender Michael Keane as part of a major rebuilding plan at Goodison Park. It comes in direct response to manager Koeman’s blast over transfer targets and the role of director of football Steve Walsh. Everton are ready to go on a huge spending spree on the back of Koeman’s frustration as the club has made limited progress since he took charge last summer. Walsh is driving the Keane deal as they look to beat off competition from Leicester for the 23-year-old centre half. That will come on top of a major January spending spree as Everton look to complete another £20m deal for Manchester United misfit Morgan Schneiderlin. They face competition from West Brom for Schneiderlin but are also hoping to do a loan deal for United’s Dutch winger Memphis Depay. Everton are ready to bankroll Koeman as they look to strengthen all areas of the squad and will spend big this summer after his frustration boiled over following their FA Cup defeat against Leicester. He said at the weekend: “If everyone opens their eyes today, maybe we will get further on our improvement as a team. That is really what the team needs. That is all about what happens this month. “I have that in mind and the board knows because we spoke together about what we and the team needs. That is the job of Steve Walsh. “I hope everyone realises what the team needs to play and to get results with what the expectations are at this club.” Everton are now trying to prove their ambition and the deal for Keane would be seen as a major coup as the ex-Manchester United trainee is seen as one of the country’s top prospects. Keane has knocked back a new deal at Burnley and seems certain to leave this summer when he will have just a year left on his current deal. But it is clear that Everton are determined to back Koeman to the hilt with a spending spree to keep the outspoken Dutchman happy. Daily Mirror
