Kenzie Weir - Defender

On 2nd August 2022, Everton announced that academy graduate defender Kenzie Weir had signed her first professional contract, agreeing a three-year deal.

Kenzie broke into the senior squad during the 2021/22 season, making her debut in a win over Huddersfield Town in the Women’s FA Cup.

Now a part of Brian Sorensen’s First-Team squad, centre-back Weir says it’s “a dream come true” to become a professional footballer at Everton. Her father is former Everton captain David Weir.

“I am really happy,” said Kenzie. “It is a club I have been at for a while now and it is a club I love. My dad obviously played and captained the team, and it has been a club that I have grown up with. He helps me and he has got experience with the Club and how football works, but my whole family are so supportive. It has been a dream come true.”

“Working with Brian Sorensen and the new staff is going to be my challenge this season,” she added.

“I love the way he is trying to get us to play and the way he goes about his day-to-day work. I am really enjoying it. I am still young so getting that First Team exposure is what I want. It's about trying to have an impact on the team, whichever way that is.”

Manager Sorensen is confident Weir will continue to develop with the Blues. He continued “Kenzie has a high potential. I’m looking forward to helping continue her development to a stage where she can play consistently for Everton.

On August 18th 2022, Kenzie was called up to the Scotland Women's Under-19s squad.

On 1st February 2023, Kenzie joined Lewes FC on loan for the remainder of the season.

Contracted until: June 2025
