Katja Snoeijs - Forward

On Monday 18th July 2022, Everton announced the signing of Netherlands international striker Katja Snoeijs on a free transfer, penning a two-year contract with the Club until the end of June 2024.

Katja arrived in England with a wealth of experience, competing at the highest level in her homeland before spending the previous two campaigns with French side Bordeaux.

Quick in attack and with an eye for goal, Katja finished top scorer in the Eredivisie in back-to-back seasons, and is an exciting addition to Brian Sorensen’s squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Now embarking on a new journey in the English top-flight, Snoeijs says she is honoured to join a historic club like Everton. “I’m really excited to be here,” said Snoeijs.

“This is a big club with a lot of history in the women’s game in England. England has the best league in Europe. I’ve followed this league from distance, and you see teams develop and grow. As a player, it’s something you want to be a part of.”

Snoeijs spoke of the conversations she had with the Dane boss and how he played a pivotal role in her wanting to join the Blues.

“I’ve been impressed with the conversations I’ve had so far with Brian,” she added.

“He’s the one who has got me excited for his Everton journey. I feel he’s the right coach to help the team grow and take this club forward. The way he looks at football makes me really excited to begin working with him.”

On the season ahead, Snoeijs is hoping to focus on the key parts of her game and says she is eager to meet the Club’s loyal supporters.

“I just want to focus on the basic things. Scoring goals, being important in attack, but also helping to bring some experience,” she said.

“Hopefully with my experience from abroad and with the national team, I can help the Club achieve beautiful things in the upcoming seasons. In England, football is a massive part of life and Evertonians are incredibly passionate about their club. I can’t wait to meet them and play in front of them at Walton Hall Park later this year.”

Manager Sorensen believes the Club have signed the Dutch striker at the perfect time in her career.

“Katja is a top player in all aspects of the game, and I’m delighted we are able to bring her to the Club,” added Sorensen.

“In this league, speed is crucial, and she has that. We had some really good conversations, and she believes in the vision I want to bring to Everton. I spoke about our style of play, and I believe she could see herself in that."

“She’s an international player with a lot of quality. Our hope is that we can now take her game to the next level, and she can be a crucial player for us this season. If she can take that next step, then I’m sure we will have a really good player on our hands.”
